We're moving to Alabama

one day! Made you open up my blog, huh? No seriously this is the blog where I finally sit down and write about all the adventures we had on vacation, and lemme tell you there were alot. Some even starting before the actual vacation kicked off.
So, a week before going on vacation we had to get a new car, like I have been saying to Rachel bittersweet yay new car boo new car payment. Anyways, traded in my POS for a 2009 Corolla, it's cute and green and does really well on gas mileage. We had originally planned to take my POS but now decided to take my new car instead of Jake's beemer, to break 'er in. Driving out of east Texas is a long ass drive coming from El Paso so we decide to leave a day early. Jake was hell on wheels, and the State Trooper, Allen, knew it--clocking him at 101 in an 80. Boy, did that burst our bubble of getting out of Texas on the first day--and scare us to think how much the ticket was going to be. Finally getting out of Texas, it was time for Momma to drive.
Only, of course, two miles into Momma driving in Louisana did the heavens decided to flush their damn toilets! If anyone knows that when I drove from Georgia last year it rained pretty much the entire time, so at this point Jake thinks I am cursed. Which I am starting to believe, too. Baton Rouge traffic and hellvalot of rain--so much that the radio starts giving their flood advisory to get to high ground--hello--I think lower Lousiana is hell. After driving through that region on separate occasions, seeing New Orleans, and hearing stories I seriously believe that God doesn't want people living there! That or it is a government conspiracy, you decide. We get to Flordia on the second night, woohoo...that much closer to lounging by the pool with drink in hand!
We decide to stop in Gainesville, to snap some pictures and see what Lew Daddy is always talking about. Jake needed new PT shoes also so we do that before heading down to the University. Once we park and take a few classic shots of James with Albert and Alberta, we go back to the car. On the way, I see that James is standing on a $50 bill..."pick it up James pick it up James" happened only to find two more $50 bills. Yes, people Gainesville was good to the Allen household, we banked $150 just for walking down the street. And away we went to our hotel.
We had a big day, the first day at Disney so we got up early to drive down to the park. Magic Kingdom was our destination. The first people we met were Alice and the Mad Hatter , it was wonderful! Anyways, I won't go into every fine detail but we checked out the rides... OOOH I almost forgot James was chosen to become a pirate by Jack Sparrow and had to take an oathe. I even managed to get James and Jake on Splash Mountain, James loved it--Jake did not. Weenie. Right after S.M. we checked in for our dinner reservation to eat at the castle. Met Cinderella. Ate. Met Mice. Met Fairy Godmother. (She rocks). Jake does his business in the castle so he can share with his friends, even take a picture--hahah. We got check in for the Pirates and Princess Party. Hunt for Treasure, ride the rides that during the day had long waits but were completely empty for PPP, meet Jack Sparrow, Snow White, Daisy Duck, and Minnie, each rockin' their Princesswear. Jake eats a big turkey leg and we watch the fireworks. Time to head back to the hotel, we have another action packed day.
Hollywood Studios. James was chosen to become a Jedi. We saw the Beauty and the Beast show. I rode the Tower of Terror, fun fun. Our favorite thing was the Indiana Jones show...AWESOME....!
Our day off was all about relaxing and hanging out. Nothing to report.
Monday was James' Wonderland Tea Party at the Grand Floridan, so we met Mickey and friends before taking the boat to the GF. James met and played with Alice and the Mad Hatter, ate lunch with them while Jake and I ate at the beautiful Cafe. We missed the rain while at the GF. We headed to Epcot after we picked James up. Met Belle, walked around the World Showcase, rode rides till closing.
Came back the next day to Epcot to eat with Mickey, Chip n Dale, and Pluto at the Garden Grill. YUM. Met Aladdin and Jasmine again. Met Mexican Donald, hehe. Then we headed to MK so Jake could do the Flag Retreat. Very moving, yes I choked up and had a couple of tears. Nothing made me as proud as to hear Jake's name and see him up there saluting the flag in the Happiest Place on Earth. After that we headed back to the hotel since we were heading to Georgia the next day.
While in Georgia, we met up with Kalz (luv you girl) and Ed, antiqued, found a ball gown for me, ate Ruby Tuesday's (woohoo). We left on Sunday. Made it back to El Paso Tuesday morning at 1. On the way home we adopted two kitties in Shreveport, La...too cute....
Still love my car, still love my life, and now thanks to that long drive we decided that we want to move to Alabama when Jake retires.
